Summary

TRAK Machine Tools is looking for a Mechanical Assembler III to come join our team. The Mechanical Assembler III will work in an air-conditioned assembly area for machines, assemble and inspect machine parts and assemblies per TRAK Machine Tools’ specifications of quality and time standards. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager.

We integrate our CNC controls with machine tools and sell the finished products as turnkey systems under the respected brand names of TRAK and ProtoTRAK. Job Overview
Work in an air-conditioned assembly area for machines. Assemble and inspect machine parts and assemblies per TRAK Machine Tools’ specifications of quality and time standards. Should have good time management skills, be well organized, and possess strong verbal communication skills. 
 
Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In the role of the Assembler – Mechanical III, you will:

  • Perform work in a production environment within a manufacturing facility.
  • Be willing to perform sedentary work with frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities.
  • Have the ability and willingness to be exposed to some noise, dust, and liquids usually present within production environment.
  • Occasionally work with a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements such as safety glasses, safety shoes and/or ear plugs.
  • Have the ability to report to work daily and work overtime as required by business need and production volumes.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area.
  • Be an active participant in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Be responsible for any other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
  • Conduct all business-related tasks according to TRAK Machine Tools policies & procedures.
  • Complete Risk Assessments prior to performing all operations and light to heavy weight material movements by means of cranes and lift trucks
  • Be responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safely.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment assembly and test set-up.
  • Possess excellent Communication, Teamwork, and Collaborative Skills with team members and basic understanding of working to production schedules / plans.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Bring any discrepancies, production issues, and/or safety concerns to the attention of immediate supervisor or manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by management.
  • Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations and maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas.
  • Be subjected to the following: awkward positions, exposure to eye injuries, noise, dust and machine lubricants.
  • Perform duties in a shop environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing, leaning and sitting, as required.
  • Have the ability to work with large parts weighing in excess of 25 lbs.
  • Have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, usually in basic English.
  • Complete required documentation with accurate information for routers, documents and inspection reports.
Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to perform work in a production environment within a manufacturing facility.

  • Ability and willingness to be exposed to some noise, dust, and liquids usually present within production environment.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work with a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse.

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required.
Desired Characteristics
  • Machine building experience including electromechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with large parts weighing in excess of 25 - 50 lbs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, usually in basic English.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Quality Management; look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Planning / Organizing; prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time effectively.
  • Safety and Security; actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to report to work daily and work overtime as required by business need and production volumes.
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
  • Perform duties in a shop environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing, leaning and sitting, as required.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Handle heavy parts and moving parts.
  • Subjected to the following: awkward positions, exposure to eye injuries, noise, dust and machine lubricants.
  • Interpret drawings, prints, drawings and engineering specifications to perform moderate to complex, repetitive assembly of machine equipment.
  • Possess or obtain forklift operator license and certification.
  • Wear PPE or Personal Protective Equipment - Hearing and eye protection (safety equipment) as required.
  • Operate battery powered, pneumatic and manual tools.
  • Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations and maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
